Property, parcels and titles
A parcel is a cadastral land unit; a title records registered interests; NZ Property Boundaries is a composite rateable-property view that can combine several titles. Landonline holds cadastral survey records. These records connect, but their outlines and purposes are not interchangeable.

How the records connect
- Parcels and survey records
A parcel is a cadastral land unit. NZ Parcels includes current and historic approved parcels, including some records without geometry. Cadastral survey records held in Landonline document the surveys that create or change parcel boundaries.
- Titles and parcels
A Record of Title records registered interests and can relate to one or more primary parcels, including part-share interests. The open NZ Property Titles layer is a spatial link to parcel geometry, not the complete title register, and it excludes ownership.
- The NZ Property Boundaries view
This composite represents rateable properties, mainly using rating units and filling geometry gaps with spatialised titles or parcels. A rating unit can combine several titles. Its outline is not the legal parcel or title boundary and cannot locate a boundary on the ground.
