Where data is produced by Māori, is about Māori, or concerns environments with which Māori have relationships, identify the relevant iwi, hapū, mana whenua or Māori data authority through appropriate local channels and follow its own published governance and engagement guidance. Te Mana Raraunga is a national Māori data sovereignty network and a useful source of principles; it is not a proxy for local authority or a single position shared by all Māori.
