# Connect an MCP client

Use the remote endpoint `https://guide.pm4gis.nz/api/mcp`. The server is read-only and publishes no account-specific or private data. It supports protocol revisions `2026-07-28` and `2025-11-25`, with tools `search_catalog`, `get_record`, and `list_providers`.

For a tool that accepts a remote MCP URL, add that endpoint directly. For a local MCP host that supports remote HTTP servers, register it as a remote server with the URL above. The exact settings format depends on your host.

## Required metadata for protocol 2026-07-28

Include both namespaced fields in `params._meta` on every request using protocol `2026-07-28`:

- `io.modelcontextprotocol/protocolVersion`: the string `2026-07-28`
- `io.modelcontextprotocol/clientCapabilities`: an object; use `{}` when the client has no capabilities to declare

The HTTP `MCP-Protocol-Version` header must match the body protocol version. Missing or incorrectly typed required metadata returns HTTP 400 with JSON-RPC error `-32602`.
